President-Elect Donald Trump Says He Won’t Take A Salary

Making his first television appear after the president elections, Donald Trump told the CBS News’ Lesile Stahl on Sunday night that he won’t be taking the salary as president. He also added that he didn’t even know how much the president was paid as a salary. But according to the law, he has to take the salary. Trump presidential salary is $1, as said by himself. Here is the conversation the “60 Minutes” host Stahl had with the president-elect regarding the annual salary.

“I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year,” Trump said. “But it’s a ― I don’t even know what it is. Do you know what the salary is?”

“$400,000 you’re giving up,” Stahl answered.

“No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.”

Trump is the chairperson of the Trump organisation which into real estate business widely spread across America and several other countries. Donald Trump is currently worth $ 3.7 billion (2016). This is why we think that President-elect doesn’t need that salary. Tell what you think about why Trump is not taking any salary as the president of America in the comments below.

There are also rumours regarding Trump’s concern on staying in the Trump tower penthouse and not in the White House during his duration as the president. The 70-year-old businessman turned politician is said to be relieved of his duty as the chairperson of the Trump organisation before he takes charge as the President of USA. Also, the president-elect has made it clear that his family won’t be joining him on the team during his period of the presidency and rather take care of their businesses.

By the law, the president of United States of America gets $400,000 annual salary, along with a $50,000 annual expense account, a $100,000 nontaxable travel account, and $19,000 for entertainment. Looks like Trump doesn’t need a lot of that money. 😉
