AirAsia India, the budget airline, has announced discount offers on advanced bookings, with all-inclusive tickets starting at Rs 599.
Indian low-cost carrier headquartered in Chennai. Malaysia’s AirAsia Berhad holds 49% stake in the airline, Tata Sons holds 40.06% and Telestra Tradeplace holds 10%. And, it commenced operations on 12 June 2014, with Bangalore as its primary hub.
AirAsia is the first foreign airline to set up a subsidiary in India. After 60 years it marked Tata’s return to the aviation industry. Also, it is the fourth-largest low-cost carrier, after GoAir, IndiGo, and SpiceJet with a market share of 2.2% as of February 2016, in India.
Bookings for AirAsia’s offer will be open until September 11. It is applicable for travel between February 6, 2017, and October 28, 2017, on Guwahati-Imphal route. While, this offer is applicable on Bengaluru-Kochi route at Rs 899, Bengaluru-Goa Rs 1,099, Bengaluru-Visakhapatnam Rs 1,199, Bengaluru-New Delhi Rs 2,299 and Bengaluru-Pune Rs 1,299. It did not reveal the number of seats available under this offer.
AirAsia India, a joint venture between the Tata Group and Malaysia’s AirAsia Berhad, has also announced discounts on many routes out of the country connected by its group airlines. For instance, airline customers can enjoy the discounts starting at Rs 3,399 on Kochi- Kuala Lumpur route on advance bookings.
This airline began operations two years ago. Furthermore, it decreased its loss to Rs 20.36 crore in the three months from April to June, as compared to Rs 44 crore loss in the same 3 months of the previous year. Its revenue rose 73 percent to Rs 189 crore in the quarter of June.
Finally, it’s chief executive Amar Abrol said that they will expand further and it would be investing a notable amount of money in the future.
